Living Life. Sarcastically.

About

The photo above was taken in 2007 shortly after Kyle and I met. It has been down hill ever since. I’m only kidding. Mostly.

Three kids, two college educations, three moves, two near-death experiences, two dogs, and lots of laughter and tears, and here we are. What’s our secret? Booze. Kidding again. Actually, I’m not.

We aren’t exactly a typical family. Maybe we are. Most families are “blended” families anymore, right? We both came into this relationship with a kid, so we didn’t get to experience the fun part. You know, like dating somewhere other than the Burger King play yard. He adopted my son, and then we had a third. Three boys. It’s a shitshow.

We started SarcastaBlog because a not-typical family needs a not-typical Blog. As much as I love reading Mom Blogs, I could never duplicate that kind of content because, well, it’s not me. It doesn’t reflect my personality, my family, or my voice. After many failed attempts at blogging, I realized that I was failing because I wasn’t being my authentic self. From that epiphany, SarcastaBlog was born!

Let me explain the name. No, this entire blog is not going to be sarcastic. Rather, the name reflects the sort of alternate-universe that this Blog exists in compared to other Parenting/Mom/Lifestyle blogs. More curse words, less apple pie recipes. Although, I do love pie. We will see about the recipes. I wanted a space where I could talk about real adult issues and ideas without putting a “gosh darnit” spin on it. I wanted to use my authentic voice and be my authentic self. And I wanted to include my husband because as in every other thing in our lives, I can’t seem to get rid of him. He’s always there.

I genuinely hope that you enjoy this blog and follow along as it hopefully becomes a business that I can both enjoy and use as my side hustle. What, you thought that I was doing this for fun? I am. Really. But, as I mentioned before, I have three boys, and holy shit are they expensive. I’m not sending three kids to college on a teacher’s salary. Oh yeah, by the way, I teach Middle School English. I do enjoy writing a whole lot, and they say to do what you love, right? All I’m saying is… I can enjoy it and make some money too, ok?
